Welcome to the 14th day of our May Devotion.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul, too.” Luke 2:34
**A sign and contradiction and a pierced heart.*
The whole mystery of the incarnation from its very beginning contradicts every human logic and understanding. It is beyond biological explanation that a virgin became pregnant without normal human way of doing so. In the child of Mary subsists two natures: fully human and fully God. This is called the hypostatic union. The hard part of Simeon’s prophecy is that the heart of Mary will be pierced by a sword. This indicates the unbreakable relationship with Mother and child. Whatever happens to Jesus will directly break her mother’s heart. That means every stroke at the back of Jesus, the crown of thorns, the nails on his hands and legs all shattered the heart of Mary. Let us offer roses of consolation to our blessed Morher by praying ths rosaries today.

*Spiritual excersie**
Consolation is an act of mercy. It is a comfort received by a person after a loss or disappointment. Try and console anyone who is having a sense of loss or disappointment.

Ten decades of the rosary or just ten Hail Marys.

Lord, send us your divine consolation at moments of loss and disappointments. Give us the strength to console and strengthen one another. Amen 🙏
